Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Welcome to our website and thank you for your interest in our Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. There continues to be a tremendous need for registered nurses who are prepared at the baccalaureate level in Michigan and across the country, and this need is projected to grow over the next decade. Ferris State University is addressing this need by offering a traditional and accelerated BSN program. I am proud to tell you that the nursing faculty have designed an innovative pre-licensure program that has a very strong clinical focus that we feel will provide our students with an excellent base to begin their nursing practice. The BSN program at Ferris will prepare our graduates to provide nursing care for patients across the lifespan in a variety of acute care and community settings. The program is designed to prepare the nursing leaders of tomorrow.

RN-BSN
This program is designed to meet the needs of working nurses. We offer several options including part-time or full-time; online or a blend of online and face-to-face courses; through a traditional RN Completion program or the RN to MSN Accelerated Track which is available to current FSU students in the RN to BSN Completion Program. Since our program has been in existence, we have found that most of our RN to BSN students prefer the online method of delivery due to work and personal commitments. Therefore all of the program can be completed in a fully online environment.

Master of Science in Nursing
It is my pleasure to welcome you to our website. I would like to tell you some interesting key points about our MSN program. We have three concentrations: nursing education, nursing informatics, and nursing administration. Our program is focused on these concentrations to meet the complex needs of the health care delivery system where we are currently experiencing a nurse educator shortage, as well as a growing need for more nurses who are leaders in informatics and administration. We are pleased to have a new curriculum beginning fall of 2013. The new curriculum has incorporated the Institute of Medicine’s and Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) competencies. Our new curriculum also aligns with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Essentials of Master’s Education. One of the key aspects of the program is that it is flexible. Students can choose to take one to four courses at a time. There is also the flexibility of increasing or decreasing one’s course load, depending on personal and professional circumstances. Students do not have to worry that they will be penalized if they decide not to take a course when it is offered.

For students new to college, one year of successfully completed pre-nursing courses is followed by six semesters of classroom and clinical learning, with one required summer session. Transfer student completion times may differ. What's different about Finlandia's BSN Nursing program is the exceptional amount of hands-on, clinical learning. Unlike many other programs, Finlandia student-nurses begin clinical site visits during their sophomore year. Overall, Finlandia BSN graduates will have spent 1,170 hours or more in a hands-on learning laboratory or at off-campus clinical sites including local hospitals, doctors' offices, and other health care facilities.

RN-BSN
Program Design: The instructional design of the curriculum is planned in such a way as to meet the needs of the working, adult learner. Web-based, on-line instructional technologies will be utilized in conjunction with a faculty-directed-independent-study instructional design in order to provide the flexibility needed for adult learner success. Clinical requirements are to be completed under the supervision of an approved preceptor. Program Options: Students have the opportunity to complete the course requirements as either full-time or part-time dependent upon their individual needs. The completion program can be completed in a minimum of 3-4 full-time semesters. Part-time options are available. Program requirements must be completed within seven (7) years.
